Toddler House
About Toddler House
At Ghent Montessori School, we believe toddlers are capable, curious, and ready to explore the world around them. Our Montessori toddler environment is intentionally prepared to support independence, order, and freedom within limits, helping each child build confidence, concentration, and a strong sense of self.
In the Montessori model, the child, teacher, and environment form a dynamic learning triangle. Our trained guides observe each child closely and introduce materials and activities that align with their interests, abilities, and developmental needs, turning everyday moments into meaningful learning.

What Your Toddler Will Learn
At this stage, toddlers are developing foundational skills that will support them for life. Through purposeful work, social interactions, and hands-on exploration, your child will grow in the following areas:
🌿 Everyday Living Skills
Self-care: Washing hands, dressing, toileting, and eating, all at their own pace.
Care of the environment: Cleaning up, preparing snacks, watering plants, and caring for pets.
🧠 Cognitive & Physical Development
Fine motor skills: Pouring, transferring, grasping, using utensils, and creating art.
Gross motor skills: Walking, climbing, jumping, balancing, and navigating stairs.
🗣️ Language & Communication
Naming objects, having conversations, storytelling, music, and singing, building vocabulary and self-expression naturally.
❤️ Social-Emotional Growth
Learning grace and courtesy, taking turns, participating in small group activities, and developing empathy through meaningful interactions.

A Curriculum That Follows the Child
Our Toddler curriculum is not scripted; it evolves based on your child’s unique path. Teachers make daily observations and respond by thoughtfully introducing new materials and challenges that pique curiosity and inspire joyful learning.

Why It Matters
These early years are powerful. The experiences your child has now shape the way they approach learning, relationships, and themselves for years to come. In our Montessori toddler environment, we honor this critical window by giving your child the tools, space, and trust they need to grow into who they’re meant to be.
